We were in Ethiopia in 1990 where approximately one in five Ethiopian children would not have lived to see their fifth birthday. Today, the story is much different as Ethiopia is on track to meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) target of reducing child mortality by half in 2015. UNICEF Ethiopia is Ethiopia’s partner in the long haul. With a presence in all regions of the country and work that directly and indirectly impacts millions around the country on a daily basis; to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence.
UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF Ethiopia is the go-to-agency for children in Ethiopia and is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.
